6, 2008 4. National and Regional Specialties and the Annual Membership Meeting: The board has been struggling to set each year's National and Regional Specialties, along with the general membership meeting, in a timely manner so that more members would be able to attend. We do understand the cost of traveling, entry fees and other expenses make it difficult for everyone to attend all the shows all over the country as we would like. While every member would love to have a specialty in their region of the country, and the Board would love to be able to this it cannot be done unless members in their regions step forward to volunteer to host a specialty and do the work with help from the board and other members across the country. For 2008, we have Scheduled 2 Regional Supported entry Specialties: Tulsa Oklahoma Oct 31, Nov 1 & 2nd. The Supported Entry will be on Sat. Nov 1. Besides Conformation, Obedience and Rally will be offered all 3 days. Springfield, MA, Nov. 20th to the 22nd. Supported entry on Sat. Nov 21st. Agility, Obedience and Rally will also be offered all for days. The board is now considering options for our annual membership meeting and final word will be announced soon. In order to make it possible for more members to attend part if not all of the meeting we are considering holding a two-session meeting. The first session would be held in Tulsa in conjunction with the regional supported entry there. And the second session will be held in Springfield with the regional supported entry there. Anyone having thoughts on this, or having items they wish to include in the agenda, please notify me, or any of the board members. A decision will be made by July 31st. 5. National and Regional Specialties for future years: 2009, 2010, 2011 etc. The board is also asking that you submit proposals for future specialties, National or Regional for upcoming years. We need and want to start planning these events several years in advance as it takes a lot of planning and organizing, and if we can set locations ahead of time, everyone will be able to work their schedules so they will be able to attend. Attached you will find a list of information which should be included in any proposal so that a knowledgeable decision on the proposal can be made. I ask all of you to think of areas where you can be of help to the club. Public Educations, Judges Education, Rescue, Health & genetics, Specialties, etc, the club and our dogs need you. It is easy for anyone to complain because they don't like what is being done, but is another to step up and work to make things happen. |
