-- review additional recommendations from AKC in regards to bylaws
-- WordMovers, INC , an independent company, will count next fall's elections
-- Nominating Committee Chairperson appointed, Cheryl Rolfe
-- Specialty2005: Cincinnati, Ohio; probably Sept 10, 11: chairs: L.McCombs;

-- Board Mtgs to occur every other month: at least 6 a year
-- reviews of show, general policies, awards policies occurring; including
requirements for board members
-- SVCA website is on new server; webmanager will look into getting email
address at that server using our website name for site use
-- letter of concern sent to UKC re: their limited registration policy
March, 2005
– letter received from UKC acknowledging SVCA’s letter. They state they will
take our concern ‘under advisement’.
– Invitations to Shows page is now on website
– Trophies for 2005 Specialty to be done on contract with D. Underdahl
– Show Policy Revised
– Further review of AKC suggested changes to SVCA Bylaws. Being sent for review
by Mr. Liosis of AKC
– Any person representing the club will be asked to present their outline of
information for board review and authorization for Judge Education and General
Public Information.
– Discuss possible Trophy Committee at next General Mtg
– Discussed Report of last year’s Specialty Chairperson
– Discussed need for checkoff list of what is needed by club, newsletter,
website in running a show/specialty
May, 2005
– revised Show Policy, to be distributed to members: Specialty
Trophies: add "For the Boyz" Winners Dog Perpetual Trophy Plaque; ask Ms.
Bayliss of UK for permission to use her perpetual trophy for Winners Bitch
– revised General Policies, to be distributed to members
– revised Awards Policy, to be distributed to members
– revised Breeders List Policy, to be distributed to members
– Judge/Education seminar and presenters issue. Current Board Authorized: Judge
Education: Rose Martino; General Education: Gail Smyka & Ivy Borg. Presenters
must be authorized by Board in order to represent the SVCA.
– Decision on conformation judge for the National: Van Camp; Battaglia;
Johanssen(not available this year)Motion: Debbie Harper 2nd Cheryl
Rolfe: unanimous yes: try for Mr. Battaglia first then Ms. Van Camp.
– Board members & participation. This fall’s election will have 3 director’s
positions. The two highest election results will be for 2year terms and the
third highest election result is for a one year term.
– Richard Thompson, barring personal concerns for his welfare, has not responded
to calls, emails, letter and has not renewed membership and cannot be on board.
– Letter to Pat Troise re: board participation; membership renewal and question
re: she is continuing on board or not
-- Motion Louise McCombs 2nd Cheryl Rolfe to nominate Mary Carter to
fill directorship of Richard Thompson thru 9/05. Unanimous yes. Secretary to
send letter/email out.
– AKC Update: Our SV’s are accepted into MISC class of AKC as of 9/1/05

- Regional Committee Chairperson is now Ivy Underdahl
- Presenter qualifications: Judge Ed and General Ed for SVCA Motion by Louise 2nd
Gail to accept the General Education Presenter Guidelines as stated by Gail and
include them in General Policies. Vote: unanimous pass
A.) In order to represent the SVCA in the presentation of
General Education Material of the Swedish Vallhund:
1. Presenter must be a member in good standing of the SVCA for at least 3 years
2. Presenter must be the owner of a Swedish Vallhund
3. Presenter must use the four approved SVCA documents: SVCA Information Sheet;
SVCA Composite Picture; SVCA Brochure, SVCA History which includes the ratified
standard.
4. Presenter shall make application to the SVCA Education Committee Chairperson
for review. Chairperson shall review material needed prior to application being
sent to the board.
5. Any other information which will be used by the presenter must be sent to the
SVCA Board for review and approval.
6. Presenter must be approved by the SVCA Board.
Motion by Gail; 2nd Louise to accept these Judge Education Presenter
guidelines below and include them in General Policies. Vote: unanimous pass
B.) In order to represent the SVCA in the presentation of Judge Education
Material of the Swedish Vallhund:
1. Presenter must be a member in good standing of the SVCA for at least 5 years

3. Presenter must be a breeder of Swedish Vallhunds
4. Presenter must use ratified SVCA standard
5. Presenter shall make application to the SVCA Judge Education Committee
Chairperson for review. Chairperson shall provide material needed prior to
application being sent to the board.
6. Presenter will give their materials to board for review and approval
7. Presenter must be approved by the SVCA Board.
-Pictorial Standard Committee: 3 persons: suggest Pam Abrath; Debbie
Harper. Debbie will contact Pam and discuss the third person. AKC Contact person
will also be on committee as advisory person.
-Ways and Means Policy Draft: Motion to accept: Mary B; 2nd:
Pat. Vote: unanimous yes.
.Newsletter concerns. Suggest:
a) Kerstin have extra email address (provided by all internet providers)
exclusively for SVCA Newsletter. b) President to contact her Re: her commitment
last fall and subsequent non-production of the newsletter
-Motion Louise 2nd Gail For a fee set by board, currently $5.00
as of 7/05), members may request from the membership committee an updated packet
of all SVCA documents and policies. Contact Colleen Horn,
Chorn@fuse.net .
– Discuss ways to maintain number of households above 100 and membership
renewal & new members.
a) Membership Chair to send reminder to breeders in their renewal packet for
breeders to contact each breeder sponsored person they had this past year and
urge them to remain and renew with club.
b) need to keep newsletter current
c) ask members who sponsored others to contact them and urge them to renew;
notice to be written by secretary and placed into the newsletter and on the
website.
August 2005
1. Rose Martino reported that on 7/15/05, Teri Moyer-Gilbert accepted
the chair of the Judge Selection/Research Committee.
2. Rose Martino reported on 7/15/05, contact with Kerstin Ottmar re: newsletter.
Her PC should be repaired by end of week and newsletter should be ready to go.
3. Jacqui Bayliss agreed, in writing on 5/16/05, to allow the trophy for the
Most Winning Bitch to become the Winners Bitch Trophy at the National Specialty.
4. M.Bennett reports AKC approval of bylaws, 7/26/05. These will now go to
members for ratification by 8/15/05, after election nominations are done,
8/1/05. The 8/15 date corresponds to the date required to have election ballots
out to members. Bylaws will require at least 30 day vote period.
5. Authorized to present General Education Material on the SV while representing
the SVCA: Mary Carter, Marie Brown, Darlene Sjoberg, Cheryl Rolfe, Cheryl
Albert. G. Smyka motion7/27/05; 2nd L.McCombs: to accept Darlene
Sjoberg, Mary Carter, Marie Brown, Cheryl Rolfe, Cheryl Albert as an authorized
persons to represent the svca on presenting general ed material to the public."
Voting yes: smyka, mccombs, rolfe, carter. Passed
6. Motion made by gail; seconded by pat on 8/7/05: to appropriate $50 for Bonnie
Conner to attend dog club mtg 8/20/05, in NM to gather information pertaining to
possible regional there in 5/06. As of 8/14/05, voting yes: mc combs, harper,
carter, bennett, rolfe, smyka. Passed.
7. Bylaw change ratification vote sent out 8/19/05 by SVCA Secretary. Ballots to
be returned by 9/25/05.
