Proposal:
I agree that the SVCA should move to join the AKC and continue our recognition process so that our breed and our parent club, the SVCA, may be fully recognized by AKC and so that we may participate in the full activities of the AKC. This would also mean that we would follow all AKC rules and procedures.

Votes:     Yes 49     No 7

Directors:

Richard Thompson: 44: elected
Cheryl Rolfe: 35: elected
Mary Carter 27

Just a note from GS     re: 9/15/04 election
I was somewhat disappointed at the 43% return in this election so I did some research.
In checking statistics with Time/Newsweek for actual voting in the USA, I found this information:
  • Presidential elections have approximately 48% of electorate voting.
  • Any election other than presidential: up to 33% of electorate voting.

The average is 41% overall. Thus the SVCA vote is within norm for USA voting, though it would be good if we could get the percentage to be higher.

Ballot Results of 10/18/04:  counted by secretary

Amendment Ballots (revisions of Constitution/Bylaws/Standard/Code of Ethics (name only)
Ballots sent out per secretary: 139
 Ballots received by 10/18/04: 62
 Percentage of ballots returned: 44%
For any of these changes on the ballots to pass required a 2/3 majority of those votes returned. In this ballot, the required number was 41 votes for passage.

1. Accept Changes to Constitution/Bylaws:  Yes  60    No  2          PASSED

2. Standards:
A. Board/Member Input Standard:                  Yes   42                    PASSED
B. Member Petition Standard:                         Yes   20                    DID NOT  PASS

3. Accept Name Change to SVCA
Guidelines from Code of Ethics:                      Yes: 55   No  7         PASSED
