Hi, Everyone,
One of our members asked a question about registration numbers AFTER we
are recognized by AKC. I didn't think we'd need to do anything new but said I
would check it out, as AKC contact person for the SVCA. Here's the response from
Pat Lejman of AKC:

from Pat Lejman, AKC
There is no need for any dog to be "re-registered" in our database (once your
breed is recognized by AKC in the MISC class). The process is that while in
Miscellaneous, the dogs are still considered still under the FSS "umbrella" if
you will, and their status remains "rare breed". Once the breed reaches full
recognition, all of the dogs in the database that have 3-generation pedigrees
will have their status updated to "AKC Registered", and new AKC registration
certificates will be processed and mailed to the owners at no charge. The AKC
numbers will remain the same.
