This area will contain information re: Those SVCA Members who are Judge Education Presenters and requirements for achievement of this title.

January 16, 2008: From the Board: The Ad-Hoc committee is finishing up on the powerpoint presentation for our presenters. They will then work on developing requirements and application process for members to become presenters and mentors.

Requirements for SVCA Judges Education Presenters

The mission of the SVCA’s Judges Education Committee is to provide ongoing education and mentoring to the people in the dog world who strive to better their understanding and knowledge of the Swedish Vallhund.

The committee will not take lightly its responsibility for the quality and content of the SVCA Breed education. The following prerequisites and guidelines are set forth to ensure continuity in the development of judges education presenters.

Presenters: The Presenter’s duty is to share their knowledge of the Breed with judges in a clear and unbiased manner. They must be a member of the SVCA and meet the following requirements:

1. Have at least five years of experience with the Swedish Vallhund.

2. Breed and raise at least one litter of SVs.

3. Produce one or more Champion Swedish Vallhunds of record from ARBA, UKC, Rarities or AKC.

4. Read the available books on the breed to gain knowledge of the background, history, and purpose of the breed.

5. Attend one or more judges’ breed education seminars of any breed in order to gain an understanding of how the presentation is conducted. Although taking the AKC judge’s anatomy test is not a requirement at this time, the Judges Education Committee highly recommends it to gain additional knowledge.

Each presenter should possess the ability to organize, communicate and be a team player. They should have the physical energy and flexibility of schedule necessary to accept educational requests. Thorough knowledge of the Breed standard with the ability to discuss its finer details is essential. Each presenter shall remain true to the standard and refrain from voicing opinions that contradict the standard. They shall understand the need for consistency and will function within the scope and guidelines developed by the SVCA’s Judges Education Committee.

The Judges Education Committee reserves the right to invite those SVCA members who will be an asset as presenters and take into consideration suggestions from the membership at large.

1.This PFD file has the 11 pictures in relatively low resolution to enable the file to be small enough to travel via email. It can be opened in Acrobat Reader, which is available for free to anyone on the Internet. For most applications, the low resolution printouts are good enough. However, in order to do the printing properly and have the end result in the precise layout to be right when it is put back-to-back and tri-folded, three things must be done.

1. Open the file in Acrobat Reader and go to View and select Actual Size

2. Go to Print and be sure the Page Scaling is set at None

3. Go to Page Layout and select Landscape (as opposed to Portrait)

Then print. If you want it to be one sheet printed on both sides, print side one and then reinsert into the printer and print side two. For best results use heavier paper than normal...probably 28# paper would do. It looks super printed on 32# coated paper.

2. For those who wish to print up a batch of Pictorials using the original high resolution photographs, I have a CD that has the same PDF file on it. This CD can easily be copied, probably for a small fee to cover the cost of burning a duplicate, and mailed out upon request. Of course, the pictures will look better when printed up from the CD. The same three steps listed above must be followed.
