AKC Update 2/7/05
In January, AKC notified us that there were some additional changes we needed to consider to our bylaws. None of these changes are major and this WILL NOT disrupt the timeline of AKC's voting on us to move to MISC class.
The board has considered the requested changes and is verifying wording with AKC prior to sending out these changes to membership for vote.
We were surprised to receive this request after our having worked with AKC and sent the constitution/bylaws to membership this past September; however, there were apparently a few places where AKC feels that wording needs to be adjusted or a section put in brackets (indicating that this would only be applicable once we are fully recognized by AKC).
The SVCA Board will get these new changes out to members for vote as soon as possible.
This month, the AKC Events Committee will be voting on whether to recommend our club and our SV to go to the full AKC board for vote in April (they don't meet in March) on our move to MISC category.
We will notify you as soon as we know the vote.
