AKC UPDATE 11/30/04
AKC UPDATE: 11/29/04
Today, Pat Lejman, the FSS Director spoke with me. She will be sending me a
note outlining points I need to make in a specific letter of petition to AKC
requesting that we be moved to the MISC class. This will be reviewed by
herself and 3 other persons and, if approved, entered into the Board Book for
January. The Events Committee of the full AKC Board will review these findings
and make a recommendation to the full AKC board. The full AKC Board then votes
on whether they feel our breed is ready to move to MISC class.
Ms. Lejman stated that, currently, FSS breeds are usually moved to MISC
class in January and July. Ms. Lejman will be forwarding information as to
how the MISC class is now handling individual breeds. Once in MISC class, our
breed/club would be reviewed at the one year point re: participation in events
and shows and work completed and a recommendation to move to full AKC
recognition or to stay in MISC for awhile yet would be made by AKC. Until we
are out of MISC class and in full AKC recognition we are still a part of FSS.
On 11/30/04, Ms Lejman contacted me again and stated that, at this time, our letter included with our October, 2004, report will be considered a formal petition letter. She will notify me if any other info is needed. She stated: I will prepare the petition to be presented at the January FSS staff meeting for their review. If everything is in order, I would anticipate this going before the Events Committee at the February Board meeting and then forwarded on to the Board in the April Board meeting (there isn't a board meeting in March). I will keep you updated on any changes, etc., as they occur and will contact you if I need any additional information. I will also follow up this email with a formal letter for your club's file confirming everything outlined here.
I think we're really on our way this time!!!!!! gail |
