New Herding Rules governing our eligibility

CKC REGISTRATION FOR YOUR SV

IMPORTANT ADDENDUMS...

1. Info from AKC 11/30/06:
due to a question from a member, I asked Mari-Beth O'Neill of AKC about our currently registered dogs in FSS receiving AKC certificates and a statement explaining our being in the Studbook as of March 1, 2007.
Her response: re: certificates:
"The new certificates will be mailed to the owners, there is no charge for this service.  The date suggested for entry into the studbook is March 1, 2007, however this may be changed as a result of other work."
re: studbook:
the studbook " means that all dogs registered after March 1, 2007 will receive a registration certificate and all litters registered should be done on an AKC Litter application. The fully recognized date  (of 6/27/07)  is the date the breed will be eligible to compete in the Herding Group."
thanks. gail smyka

Per AKC, "Certs were not printed for dogs born before 1/1/1997 which may involve some dogs.  If that is the case we can have them printed on a dog by dog basis by contacting Christine Weisse, cxw@akc.org "

HERDING!
2. Another member question/comment: this was from the General Mtg Minutes of 11/06, which I received on 1/8/07 for this report: are we eligible for herding titles? I checked again with Mari Beth O’Neill and she advised that the information of 9/05 has been changed. Per new rules re: herding: "Section 3. Eligibility of Dogs. All dogs nine (9) months of age or older that are registered with The American Kennel Club and classified as Herding Dogs under Chapter 3 of the Dog Show Rules, Samoyeds and Rottweilers and
Herding breeds eligible to compete in the conformation Miscellaneous Level, are eligible to participate in herding tests and trials. "
On our website, I will post the PDF of these new rules. I have already submitted it to the board and questioning member.

Please, if any member has a question or concern re: our AKC status, contact me by email svcags@comcast.net or by phone 586-7913299. I will find out the correct response and immediately notify: the member who stated the question; our board; our newsletter and post on our website. Thank you.

FINAL AKC REPORT

As we know, our wonderful Swedish Vallhund will be fully recognized in AKC as of 6/27/07. This has been a great achievement for our Club and our Breed and we have worked hard to get to this point.

Our dogs are recognized to be in events in Canada (CKC) and in the USA:  The American Kennel Club (AKC) as of 6/27/07; The United Kennel Club (UKC), The Continental Kennel Club (CKC), International Kennel Club (IKC) and other USA clubs. There are also Performance Clubs (agility, obedience, etc) where they can be shown. In AKC, our dogs may participate in Performance events (Obedience, Agility) and Herding Trials as well as Conformation in the Misc. Class.

CKC REGISTRATION
Registering your dog in Canada will require a microchip,  your AKC certificate as well as completing all the CKC papers. Since we have received AKC certificates, any papers from the SVCA registrar are no longer valid for CKC registration.

Places to Show
Below are listed some contacts to find more information about showing your SV in other, non-AKC events.

If you know of other places which welcome our SV for either conformation or herding, agility, obedience, flyball, etc., please let the webmanager   know and they will be listed. Thank you
