Tribute to
"Lex" died suddenly last evening. A necropsy performed today revealed an absolutely normal healthy dog. No bloat, no snakebite, no poisoning, nothing. Based on the description of what I found, his body positioning and the lack of any evidence of illness, abnormalities, injury or other trauma both externally or to his abdominal & thoracic cavities, along with his throat and airway, it was determined that he had a cerebral event of some sort. Possibly an embolism, clot or hemorrahge. We will never know for certain.
He was happy, apparantly healthy and had been running around with the other
dogs earlier in the day. I put him in his kennel to go into town. When I got
back he was dead. I was only gone for about an hour. He was still warm when
I found him.
He was a vibrant dog and I am still in a fog as to how he could so suddenly
go from a wildy happy dog with an incredible zest for life, to totally
lifeless. He was always smiling and happy. He is already sorely missed. It
will take some time to get over.
In his very short life of just 5 years he had already earned 6 Ch titles in
3 different countries. IABCA, Int Canine KC, ARBA, Rarities, UK and most
recently Canada. He was awarded the AOM at last years' National Specialty and
was qualifed for Crufts for life. He had a very promising future ahead of him
as he was poised to pursue his American Ch title.
In only two litters, his puppies are just starting their show careers and
are already claiming their place in the ring in both the US and Canada.
Good Bye my friend!!! It will not be the same around here without you!!!
